The school support functions have been relocated along the eastern edge of the site adjacent to the existing school shop allowing pupils and staff easy access to the facilities without having to disturb the other school functions. A separate garage building has been provided for grounds maintenance vehicles.  This part of the site is closed off from the main school grounds by a new close-boarded timber fence. The total floor area of the new buildings is 553m2.

The design provides a simple layout with various functions separated within the same building and with easy access.  Separate entrances for the various functions allow these to be used independently.

The curved roofs over both buildings provide more height internally, resulting in a better internal environment.

A new access road runs from the school shop to the grounds maintenance yard and garage.

The school is taking the opportunity of making the buildings fully sustainable and creating educational opportunities in sustainable construction for its pupils. The buildings are constructed using a prefabricated solid timber panel system. Wood fiber insulation boards are applied to the outside of the solid timber structure. The external cladding is durable thermo-wood. A sedum green roof forms the roof.

The members of E&E Architects were involved in this project.
